The Mallee Institute is an outlier, a small hub of research activity situated deep within the mallee forests between the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Murray River. Its projects are various, ranging from ink-making and artistic renderings of Longicorn insect tracks over ancient mallee logs, to the ongoing documentation of mallee biota and the distillation of essential oils from mallee eucalypts.
